Centene Corp., up $7.28 to $98.16

The health insurer and Medicaid coverage provider will expand into New York by buying Fidelis Care for $3.75 billion.

Nordstrom Inc., up $2.69 to $47.74

CNBC reported that members of the Nordstrom family are getting closer to a deal to buy the department store chain.

Western Digital Corp., down $3.04 to $85.74

Toshiba said it will sell its computer memory business to a consortium, not Western Digital, which wants to buy it.

Power Integrations Inc., down $2.45 to $71.45

The company, which makes integrated circuits used for power conversion, and other electronics companies linked to Apple traded lower.

Target Corp., up $1.62 to $59.51

The retailer said it will hire 100,000 people to work over the holidays, 40 percent more than it hired in 2016.

Chesapeake Energy Corp., up 20 cents to $3.94

Natural gas companies rose as the price of the fuel increased.

Hologic Inc., down 63 cents to $37.56

Health care companies, which have led the market higher over the last month, took losses Wednesday.

Costco Wholesale Corp., up $2.95 to $162.99

Companies that make and sell household goods made larger gains than other industries.
