By sending a letter to Iran, did Republican senators go too far?

On March 9, in the middle of tense nuclear negotiations between the U.S. and Iran, 47 Republican senators sent a letter to leaders in Tehran saying that any agreement reached between Obama and Iran without the approval of Congress could be revoked by the next president. Critics have slammed the move, saying that the senators have blatantly undermined the president's authority and have imperiled the nuclear talks.
