During a kick-off event hosted at the National Public Radio, twenty-one high school journalists were welcomed into the program which introduces students to media careers through an intensive skills-building workshop series.  During the series, which runs from March 1 - April 26, students receive tips for becoming accomplished newspaper, broadcast and multimedia journalists from award-winning journalists from The Post, NPR and other media companies.  YJDP would like to thank our keynote speaker, Joe Johns, CNN senior Washington correspondent and a panel of news producers and production assistants: Juanisha Brooks (Dept. Of Defense), Nike Oyebanjo, (C-SPAN), and Stacey Samuel (CNN). To learn more about the program and see final student projects visit, washingtonpost.com/youngjournalists or wabj-dc.org.
