The four-part Journalism Adviser and Student Editor Seminar hosted by The Post’s YJDP, Newseum and D.C. JEA was geared to high school journalism editors and teacher-advisers throughout Washington, D.C., and The Washington Post circulation areas in Maryland and Virginia. Participants explored essential journalism techniques and had the opportunity to attend four hands-on training sessions covering feature writing, sports writing, photography and online news website design.
· The Journalism Adviser and Student Editor Seminar consisted of four seminars that take place on Saturday, October 13 and Saturday, October 20 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at The Newseum. When applicable, the session included a tour of the Newseum. The optional tour featured subjects covered during the workshop.
· Workshops were FREE and open to all public, private and charter school journalism and media educators.
· Journalists from The Post will be paired with local high school journalism teacher-adviser to lead each of the four training session.
