Nightly Program Among Featured Videos on New App for Google TV; Also Available on The Post’s Website
The Washington Post today launches “The Fold from The Washington Post,” a nightly newscast designed specifically for Google TV by The Post’s newsroom. The Fold features Post reporters and newsmakers and delivers breaking news, in-depth analysis of complex issues and original journalism about stories and people that shape today’s issues. It is hosted by Brook Silva-Braga, an Emmy-award winning journalist and documentary filmmaker who came to The Post as an on-air journalist.
As a weekday video designed for our Google TV app and future connected-TV experiences, viewers can choose to get a full digest of the news by watching the entire show, which runs roughly 15 minutes, or skipping directly to the stories that matter most to them. The Fold can also be easily shared on Facebook and Twitter through Google TV or online, since it is also available on washingtonpost.com.
“In creating The Fold, we wanted to reimagine the nightly newscast. It’s our answer to being able to watch a summary of the news on your own time—in as much or as little time as you want, in a way that is always lively and engaging,” said Andy Pergam, Director of Video at The Washington Post. “Launching The Fold on Google TV is just one of the ongoing investments we’re making in our video products.”
Viewers can find The Fold on “PostTV,” a Washington Post app for Google TV and Android tablets that presents original video news, analysis and features from Post reporters. With PostTV, users will be able to access The Fold and other videos from The Post’s multimedia team. The PostTV app can be found on Google Play and was developed by WaPo Labs, the digital innovation team at The Washington Post Company.

· Special Reports—short-form documentaries from The Post’s video journalists.
