The Washington Post is the founding media sponsor of the 13th annual Harlem Renaissance Festival which aims to promote, educate, and cultivate the essence of African-Americans in literature, the performing and fine arts, social engagement, politics and education, through the celebration of the Harlem Renaissance Era, one of the most creatively prolific and intellectually significant periods in modern history for African-Americans. This year’s festival theme is “Our History & Experiences…What Have We Learned”. Attendees can enjoy performances from Mother’s Finest, Dick Gregory and the Chuck Brown Band. The festival runs from 10am-7pm at the Columbia Park/Kentland Community Center.
