In a 2009 email to other company executives, product safety director Kitty Pilarz said she and the company's medical consultant were seeking out information about whether inclined sleeping could be harmful to babies. The company never consulted a pediatrician and Pilarz later said she didn't contact anyone except the company's consultant.
