Chapter 29 of the Police General Orders, which details protocols around use of force, is not public. It was altered in September, before planned protests coinciding with the 70th anniversary of Chinese Communist Party rule on Oct. 1. Below are the original guidelines, which The Washington Post obtained in full in English, and the altered, new version, which The Post translated from Chinese with reference to the original document.
