“In Germany, they celebrate engineers. They celebrate apprentices. They have vocational training programs. They pay a lot of attention to the talent pipeline at the factory level. You go to Singapore, Taiwan and Korea, they’re all doing the same. Countries with no natural resources other than their people are investing in their people pipeline, so [American competitiveness] gets back to the education question and the shortage of skills that we have in this country.”
