A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting early Sunday in Prince William County, police said.

Michael Arthur, 18, of Dumfries, Va., was killed about 1 a.m. in the 14000 block of Deming Drive in the Gainesville area, police said.

He was shot at least twice after a reported altercation in the parking lot of an apartment complex, according to police. Two unoccupied parked cars were also struck.

The victim was taken to a hospital by an acquaintance but died shortly afterward, police said.

They said the shooting did not appear to be random.

Police on Thursday arrested Malachi T. Coleman, 20, of Gainesville, in connection with the slaying. He’s charged with second-degree murder, robbery and other charges. He’s being held without bond, and it wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

Officials said they’re also looking for another suspect in the case: a 16-year-old male youth. Anyone with information is asked to call 703-792-7000.
