Student stabbed in Mount Vernon High School bathroom, police say

A 15-year-old student at Fairfax County’s Mount Vernon High School was stabbed and wounded by another student Wednesday afternoon, Fairfax County police said.

The incident occurred inside a bathroom at the school, Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis said. Police said in a statement that the injured student was taken to a hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Police said two juvenile suspects fled the school but were identified and soon taken into custody by officers.

The incident occurred just after 1:15 p.m., police said, and a shelter in place was put into effect at the school briefly until investigators determined the suspect had fled.

A Fairfax County schools spokesperson referred questions on the matter to police.
