Woman fatally shot in Capitol Heights, police say

The victim was from El Salvador, according to police

A 62-year-old woman was fatally shot in Capitol Heights on Tuesday night, Prince George’s County police said.

Police identified the victim as Lidia Chinchilla De Carrillo of El Salvador.

Officers with the Capitol Heights and Prince George’s County police departments responded about 9:10 p.m. for a reported shooting in the 600 block of Drum Avenue, police said. They found Carrillo with a gunshot wound.

She later died at a hospital, police said. An investigation is continuing.
