These documents, obtained through a FOIA request by the Partnership for Working Families, include more than a decades-worth of non-disclosure agreements, property deeds, and other contracts that reveal how Google traded in secrecy to build data centers across the U.S. In some cases, Google requested that publicly-relevant issues such as water use, energy use, and the number of jobs that would be created would be considered trade secrets. In another case, cities did not know Google was going to build a data center in their community until after the deal was approved.
