U.S. House

Most of the action took place in the primaries in this red state. Dogged by allegations he misspent campaign funds, Rep. Steven M. Palazzo (R) lost the primary in the 4th District to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell (R), who is now heavily favored to win the general election. Rep. Michael Guest (R), who was forced into a runoff after being attacked for favoring the establishment of a congressional Jan. 6 committee, survived and is also a strong bet to win the general.

The Post estimated the lean of 2022 congressional districts using 2020 presidential results by precinct from Decision Desk HQ and estimates where actual votes at the precinct level were unavailable. Districts classified as “Strong Biden” and “Strong Trump” show where a candidate is estimated to have won by 15 percentage points or more. “Lean Biden” and “Lean Trump” districts had estimated vote margins between five and 15 points. “Close” districts show an estimated margin within five points.
