What to watch

Eric Schmitt (R) is projected to win the Senate race.

U.S. Senate

All eyes were on the Senate GOP primary featuring “ERIC”: one of two Republican candidates Donald Trump seemed to coyly endorse heading into the intraparty contest. In the end, state Attorney General Eric Schmitt beat former governor Eric Greitens — who some in the GOP establishment rallied against because of his personal and political scandals and domestic violence accusations that he denies. Now, Schmitt is favored against Trudy Busch Valentine (D), an Anheuser-Busch heir and nurse.

Schmitt (R) is projected to win. An estimated 99.6 percent of votes have been counted.

Marijuana legalization ballot initiative

Missouri voters can vote to legalize recreational marijuana for people older than 21 via a ballot initiative. If advocates are successful, purchasing, possessing and consuming marijuana would no longer be prohibited in the state. The initiative follows a successful effort four years ago to legalize the sale of medical marijuana in the state.

Yes is projected to win. An estimated 99 percent of votes have been counted.

* Incumbent

The Post estimated the lean of 2022 congressional districts using 2020 presidential results by precinct from Decision Desk HQ and estimates where actual votes at the precinct level were unavailable. Districts classified as “Strong Biden” and “Strong Trump” show where a candidate is estimated to have won by 15 percentage points or more. “Lean Biden” and “Lean Trump” districts had estimated vote margins between five and 15 points. “Close” districts show an estimated margin within five points.
