Josh Harder wins California's 10th Congressional District seat

Rep. Jeff Denham, a Republican, has lost a bid for reelection in California's 10th Congressional District to Josh Harder, a Democrat.

With all precincts reporting, Harder has 52.2 percent of the vote, followed by Denham with 47.8 percent.

Denham has represented the district in the House since 2013.

Democrats have gained a majority in the House, with 234 seats in the next Congress. In California, 52 of 53 House seats have been decided; six switched hands, all going to Democrats.

The number of votes cast for Democrats in House races has increased 52.0 percent from the 2014 midterms, compared with an increase of 25.1 percent for Republicans.

The district went for Democrat Hillary Clinton in 2016 by a margin of three points. Clinton won California by 30 points.
