Sen. Tom Carper (D) has won statewide elections in Delaware since 1976. He overcame a primary challenge from the left earlier this year and is favored to win reelection. His Republican challenger is Rob Arlett, a real estate businessman and Sussex County council member.
Scott Charles Maddox and Janice Paige Carter-Smith were indicted on racketeering, bank fraud, bribery and other charges. The indictment did not mention former Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum.
