Rep. Francis Rooney wins Florida's 19th Congressional District seat

Rep. Francis Rooney, a Republican, has won another term representing Florida's 19th Congressional District, beating David Holden, a Democrat.

With all precincts reporting, Rooney has 62.3 percent of the vote, followed by Holden with 37.7 percent.

Rooney has represented the district in the House since 2017.

Democrats have gained a majority in the House, with 235 seats in the next Congress. All of Florida's House seats have been decided; two switched hands, all going to Democrats.

The number of votes cast for Democrats in House races has increased 55.0 percent from the 2014 midterms, compared with an increase of 25.6 percent for Republicans.

The district went for President Trump, a Republican, in 2016 by a margin of 22.1 points. Trump won Florida by 1.2 points.
