Sen. Mazie Hirono (D) is seeking reelection and faces no primary challengers. Eight candidates are competing in the Republican primary, including Roque "Rocky" De La Fuente, who filed to compete for Senate nominations in eight different states (so far unsuccesfully).
Incumbent Gov. David Ige (D) faces five primary challengers, including Rep. Colleen Hanabusa. Ige's popularity tumbled early this year but surged after his handling of the volcano crisis. Three Republicans are seeking the nomination, including state Rep. Andria P. Tupola, the leader of Hawaii's GOP caucus.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) called for a suspension in the impeachment inquiry until the same due process rights for Clinton and Nixon are given to Trump in a news conference on Oct. 18.
