Jim Baird wins Indiana's 4th Congressional District seat

Republican Jim Baird has beaten Tobi Beck, a Democrat, in the race for the House seat representing Indiana's 4th Congressional District, currently held by Republican Todd Rokita.

With all precincts reporting, Baird has 64.1 percent of the vote, followed by Beck with 35.9 percent.

Rokita has represented the district in the House since 2011.

Democrats have gained a majority in the House, with 235 seats in the next Congress. All of Indiana's House seats have been decided; Republicans have held seven seats, while Democrats have held two.

The number of votes cast for Democrats in House races has increased 55.0 percent from the 2014 midterms, compared with an increase of 25.6 percent for Republicans.

The district went for President Trump, a Republican, in 2016 by a margin of 33.9 points. Trump won Indiana by 19 points.
