Rep. Ralph Abraham wins Louisiana's 5th Congressional District seat

Rep. Ralph Abraham, a Republican, has won another term representing Louisiana's 5th Congressional District, beating Jessee Fleenor, a Democrat.

With all precincts reporting, Abraham has 66.5 percent of the vote, followed by Fleenor with 30 percent.

Abraham has represented the district in the House since 2015.

Democrats have gained a majority in the House, with 235 seats in the next Congress.

The number of votes cast for Democrats in House races has increased 55.0 percent from the 2014 midterms, compared with an increase of 25.6 percent for Republicans.

The district went for President Trump, a Republican, in 2016 by a margin of 29.4 points. Trump won Louisiana by 19.6 points.
