Mark Green wins Tennessee's 7th Congressional District seat

Republican Mark Green has beaten Justin Kanew, a Democrat, in the race for the House seat representing Tennessee's 7th Congressional District, currently held by Republican Marsha Blackburn.

With all precincts reporting, Green has 66.9 percent of the vote, followed by Kanew with 32.1 percent.

Blackburn has represented the district in the House since 2003.

Democrats have gained a majority in the House, with 235 seats in the next Congress. All of Tennessee's House seats have been decided; Republicans have held seven seats, while Democrats have held two.

The number of votes cast for Democrats in House races has increased 55.0 percent from the 2014 midterms, compared with an increase of 25.6 percent for Republicans.

The district went for President Trump, a Republican, in 2016 by a margin of 39 points. Trump won Tennessee by 26 points.
