The Texas primary election was held March 6. No candidate received 50 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary for governor and 17 of the House primaries, triggering the top two candidates in each to compete in the May 22 runoff. Click here to view the original primary results.
Democrats are voting statewide for gubernatorial candidates and in 11 congressional districts. For governor, former Dallas County sheriff Lupe Valdez, who received 43 percent of the primary vote, made the runoff against businessman Andrew White, who had 27 percent. Republicans are voting in runoffs in six congressional districts.
