2020 Nevada Democratic presidential caucuses
Last Updated: Feb 24, 2020 at 3:47 p.m. EST
Nevada is the third state to vote in the 2020 primary season, and it’s the first state with a population that’s not overwhelmingly white. The state holds caucuses, as in Iowa, and is trying to make sure it doesn’t replicate the issues that were seen in the first caucus state, where results reporting was thrown into disarray by a glitch in software.
Nevada for the first time this year had early voting, in which nearly 75,000 people filled out ballots. Results from valid ballots have to be integrated with caucus-day counts. As in Iowa, caucus-goers show their support for their first-choice candidate. If that candidate does not hit the viability threshold (usually 15 percent), they then move to a second-choice candidate.
The Nevada Republican Party canceled its caucuses for 2020.

* County convention delegates (CCDs) are the current number of county delegates each candidate will get at the state convention, which determines the number of pledged national delegates each candidate receives. |
Where candidates did well
With his large margin of victory, Sanders gained county convention delegates across all of Nevada. Most caucus-goers were concentrated in a few urban centers. Here’s where the main candidates racked up their CCD totals.

County-level results
Clark County is the biggest in Nevada by far, with more than 70 percent of the state’s population in and around Las Vegas. Washoe County, home to Reno, is the state’s second-most populous —though it has fewer than 500,000 residents, compared to more than 2 million in Clark.

Preliminary entrance poll results
See the strengths and weaknesses of each Democratic candidate according to a statewide survey of Nevadans as they entered caucus sites during the early voting period and on caucus day, Feb. 22. Entrance poll results reflect caucus-goers’ initial preferences for candidates, and do not take into account which candidates voters supported after realignment during caucuses or the delegate count.
