SERIES PREMIERE: Rejoice, Johnny Carson fans — starting Monday, TCM will be airing 12-minute segments Monday nights from 8 to 9 p.m. called “Carson on TCM,” featuring some of the famous late-night host’s most famous interviews. Former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien, a devotee of Carson, hosts the series, which kicks off with Carson’s interview with a 7-year-old Drew Barrymore in 1982, followed by a chat with Kirk Douglas in 1988.
RETURNING SHOW: Technically, the fifth season of competition series “ American Ninja Warrior” (NBC at 8) debuted Sunday on G4, but NBC will be re-running the episodes from its sister cable channel every Monday night. In the two-hour opener, contestants compete in a qualifying round of tough obstacles in Venice Beach, Calif.
Documentary “Gideon’s Army” (HBO at 9) profiles Clarence Earl Gideon, from the landmark Gideon v. Wainwright case, which ruled that courts are required to provide counsel in a criminal case even if the defendant can’t afford an attorney. The film, which showed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, follows a group of young public defenders in the South.
SERIES PREMIERE: New docu-series “Battleground Afghanistan” (Nat Geo at 9) looks at the war in Afghanistan from the perspective of a U.S. marine captain and his team.
RETURNING SHOW: Andrew Zimmern starts his search for strange meals in Los Angeles on a new season of “Bizarre Foods America” (Travel at 9), and a very odd type of tamale is found in a food truck in the Watts neighborhood.
S ERIES PREMIERE: “Below Deck” (Bravo at 10), which follows the young staff working aboard a 164-foot mega-yacht, is reviewed on Page .
SERIES PREMIERE: Things get creepy quickly on NBC’s new drama “Siberia” (at 10), which follows 16 contestants on a reality show who are dropped into remote Siberian territory of Tunguska. Little do they know the land is apparently cursed, thanks to a meteor that crashed there 100 years ago.
SERIES PREMIERE: Cameras follow men and women as they perform their jobs in the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Drug Enforcement Administration on “Eyewitness War” (Nat Geo at 10). The show begins with two soldiers who have a run-in with Taliban members during an intense chase.
