HIGHLIGHTS

Summer burn-off season continues with “Cult” (CW at 8, 9), which the network starts airing in double doses on Friday nights after canceling the freshman drama this past spring. If you missed it, the show centers on a reporter whose brother gets involved in a TV show starring a creepy cult leader.

There are some big guest stars — who want to promote their upcoming movie — on Disney Channel’s Friday night lineup, starting with Chris Rock, who plays himself on “A.N.T. Farm” (at 8), looking to adopt a pet for his daughter. Later, on “Jessie” (at 8:35), Adam Sandler arrives to give Luke some relationship advice when it becomes clear that Luke is about to get dumped by his new crush.

RETURNING SHOW: It’s back to the drama at Bridals by Lori on Season 4 of “Say Yes to the Dress: Bridesmaids” (TLC at 9, 9:30), starting with a bride who chooses a “man of honor” for her bridal party, infuriating her best friend.

Documentary “Annie: It’s the Hard-Knock Life, From Script to Stage” (WETA at 9, MPT at 10) goes behind the scenes of the Broadway show to reveal how the production number is created, from start to finish.

The scenarios get crazier on social-experiment show “What Would You Do?” (ABC at 9), using hidden cameras to see how people react to tenuous situations in public. Segments include people taking money out of a fountain casino to continue gambling; a pastor refusing to marry an interracial couple; a mother taking her young son for a manicure; and seeing what casino visitors do when they stumble upon a wallet stuffed with cash.

Actor Faizon Love hosts “Shaquille O’Neal Presents: All Star Comedy Jam — Live From Atlanta” (Showtime at 10), featuring sets by up-and-coming stand-up comedians.

Anthony Leiserowitz of the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication and actor Adrian Grenier are interview guests on “Real Time With Bill Maher” (HBO at 10). The roundtable includes political strategist Hogan Gidley, automotive columnist Dan Neil and political consultant Kristen Soltis.

“The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” (NBC at 11:35) hosts actress Wanda Sykes, reality star Kris Jenner and a performance by India.Arie.
