SERIES PREMIERE: The four-part travel docu-series “Brazil With Michael Palin” (WETA at 8) airs in full tonight, beginning with a survey of modern Brazil with insight into Brazilian Cowboys and English adventureman Palin finding out what lies behind the beguiling moves of capoeira dancers. At 9, Palin travels through the heart of Amazonia. At 10, he makes the trek from the mining area of Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro, and then at 11, Palin concludes the series in the deep south.

Aria is haunted by past events while Emily, Spenser and Hanna struggle to adjust on “Pretty Little Liars” (ABC Family at 8).

Legendary actor Gene Wilder joins TCM’s Robert Osborne to present four of his favorite films, starting with “Random Harvest” (TCM at 8), which he notes is “the most romantic film I’ve ever seen.” Ernst Lubitsch’s “The Merry Widow” (10:15), “Witness for the Prosecution” (12:15 a.m.) and “Dark Victory” (2:30 a.m.) with Bette Davis follow to round out his stint as guest programmer for the night.

RETURNING SHOW: Jane’s under extreme pressure on the Season 5 opener of “Rizzoli & Isles” (TNT at 9) while trying to solve the murder of a jogger and also trying to hide her pregnancy from her mother.

FINALE WATCH: The twisted and delightful mini-series “Fargo” (FX at 10) comes to an end with Molly taking the lead and Lester being unsurprisingly manipulative to get his way.

RETURNING SHOW: “Perception” (TNT at 10) returns for Season 3 with news of an international threat.

An Alamo re-enactment brings a slew of new patients into the hospital on “The Night Shift” (NBC at 10), and Jordan and Kenny learn how to deal with a patient who is refusing treatment.

Actor and comedian Kevin Hart is on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (NBC at 11:35), along with musical guest Jimmy Buffett.

Actress Olivia Wilde and famous music executive Shep Gordon stop by the “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), with a musical performance from Empires.

Josh Groban, Ludacris, Brad Paisley and Kesha all come to “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC at 11:35) to promote their new singing competition show “Rising Star,” for which Groban is host and the rest are so-called “experts.” Plus, Internet personality Michael Stevens, and Brad Paisley performs.
