SERIES PREMIERE: The four-part travel docu-series “Brazil With Michael Palin” (WETA at 8) airs in full tonight, beginning with a survey of modern Brazil with insight into Brazilian Cowboys and English adventureman Palin finding out what lies behind the beguiling moves of capoeira dancers. At 9, Palin travels through the heart of Amazonia. At 10, he makes the trek from the mining area of Minas Gerais to Rio de Janeiro, and then at 11, Palin concludes the series in the deep south.
Aria is haunted by past events while Emily, Spenser and Hanna struggle to adjust on “Pretty Little Liars” (ABC Family at 8).
Legendary actor Gene Wilder joins TCM’s Robert Osborne to present four of his favorite films, starting with “Random Harvest” (TCM at 8), which he notes is “the most romantic film I’ve ever seen.” Ernst Lubitsch’s “The Merry Widow” (10:15), “Witness for the Prosecution” (12:15 a.m.) and “Dark Victory” (2:30 a.m.) with Bette Davis follow to round out his stint as guest programmer for the night.
