The documentary “Got Your 6” (MTV at 5 p.m.) shines a light on the lives of young veterans who have returned from Afghanistan, and it’s produced with Got Your 6, a veteran-empowerment campaign. (“Got your 6” is military jargon for “got your back.”)

Broadcast live from the Mall in Washington, “The Concert for Valor” (HBO at 7) honors America’s veterans with performances from Metallica, Rihanna, Carrie Underwood, the Black Keys, Jennifer Hudson, Bruce Springsteen and others.

“America’s Veterans: A Musical Tribute 2014” (MPT at 8) celebrates men and women in uniform with a performance by the U.S. Air Force Band and appearances by “American Idol’s” Melinda Doolittle and Kris Allen.

“The Real Death Valley” (The Weather Channel at 9) is a documentary that reveals the little-known story of the hundreds of migrants who have died in the sweltering Texas brush over the past five years while trying to evade a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint that’s 70 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border.

Mindy catches Danny’s mother, Annette (played by Rhea Perlman), shoplifting on “The Mindy Project” (Fox at 9:30).

For the first time since he revealed his identity, the documentary and interview special “The Man Who Killed Usama Bin Laden” (Fox News at 10) has former Navy SEAL Robert O’Neill sitting down to talk about the day he shot and killed the terrorist leader.

SERIES PREMIERE: The docu-series “Dogs of War” (A&E at 10) profiles shelter dogs who are paired up with veterans who have post-traumatic stress disorder.
