TV highlights: The night of a thousand finales

FINALE WATCH: It is truly a night of finales (some for a show’s latest season, others for a final farewell), and first up is “Glee” (Fox at 8 p.m.), which is closing Season 5 by way of a Rachel-centric episode and a Shirley MacLaine cameo.

FINALE WATCH: “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (ABC at 8) wraps up its premiere season with Coulson taking a major risk to stop Garrett and HYDRA.

FINALE WATCH: “The Originals” (CW at 8), which has been picked up for Season 2, ends Season 1 with Hayley pushed to the brink, and Jackson and Oliver convening over the future of werewolves in New Orleans.

FINALE WATCH: The team investigates a fire on a U.S. Navy ship and discovers that it’s a detention site for indicted terrorists on the Season 11 finale of “NCIS” (CBS at 8).

SERIES PREMIERE: Now for something new in the 8 o’clock slot, “Coming Back With Wes Moore” (MPT and WETA at 8) details the experiences of war veterans reintegrating into society. The three-part series begins with a look at the suicide epidemic among veterans.

SERIES PREMIERE: Also one of the few shows on this night that’ll be around next week, “Riot” (Fox at 9), based on the hit international program “Anything Goes,” is a Steve Carell-produced game show that features the nation’s funniest celebrities facing improvisational challenges while navigating the show’s trademark set, which is at a 22-degree angle.

FINALE WATCH: The Season 1 closer for the recently renewed “The Goldbergs” (ABC at 9) has Murray dealing with his high school free-throw record being broken.

FINALE WATCH: In its first and last finale, Kate finds out that there’s a hidden agenda in her Mother’s Day plans on “Trophy Wife” (ABC at 9:30).

FINALE WATCH: A fire at a boarding school strikes the “Chicago Fire” (NBC at 10) Season 2 finale.

FINALE WATCH: The team is on Samaritan watch on the Season 3 finale of “Person of Interest” (CBS at 10).

“Frontline” (WETA at 9 and MPT at 10) examines the history of the National Security Agency and the massive surveillance program that started after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, with remarks from intelligence insiders, Cabinet officials and government whistleblowers.

Actor Taylor Kitsch comes to “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” (NBC at 11:35), along with musician and perfect person Dolly Parton.

Actor Jim Parsons and television personality Julie Chen are on the “Late Show With David Letterman” (CBS at 11:35), with music from Hozier.

Actresses Sally Field and Julia Roberts join “Jimmy Kimmel Live” (ABC at 11:35), along with a performance from Baltimore band Future Islands.
