Gear up for a biking bonanza in Arlington this weekend.

The county will welcome the Air Force Cycling Classic (Airforcecyclingclassic.com), a two-day series of events that includes races for pros, amateurs and kids, as well as Crystal Ride, a noncompetitive option for the masses.

It’s also hosting the Washington Area Bicyclist Association’s (Waba.org) first Bike-Fest, which is a chance to celebrate cycling on two feet rather than two wheels. As part of the carnival-themed fundraiser, guests will be invited to toss items into baskets affixed to handlebars, knock over water bottles and participate in other games. That’s when they’re not noshing, drinking, dancing and marveling at the submissions in a crazy custom bike-building showcase.

Money raised at the events will go to worthy causes: the Air Force Aid Society (Afas.org) and the WABA, which recently launched an initiative to beef up bike programming and resources in Ward 8.

» Get tickets for BikeFest (Sat. 8p.m.-midnight; Crystal City Shops at 1750) for $45. Register for Crystal Ride (Sun. at 7:30 a.m.; 2100 Crystal Drive) for $50.
