Tony, 61, is a proofreader at the Government Printing Office. Peggy, 52, is a vice president at a consulting company. They will live in Annandale, Va.

The Main Event: Tony and Peggy wed Nov. 17 at their church, with an intimate meal beforehand and an open invitation for cake afterward.

How They Met:

First Impressions: “I was so nervous, but as soon as I saw his face and his amazing smile, I knew that everything was going to be OK.”

First Date: A picnic at Great Falls Park.

How He Proposed: The day after Christmas, he asked her back to Great Falls, where he “scared her to death by telling her I had something I wanted to talk to her about.”

When She Knew: Not until the moment he proposed. “I honestly never saw myself ever getting or being married again.”

Family Traditions: They toasted using a pair of silver wine goblets given to Peggy’s parents for their 25th anniversary, which were used by both her brother and sister at their weddings.

Making It Unique: Both Peggy and Tony have sons from previous marriages, who were “Best Man” and “Man of Honor.”
