Have a Vine Time
Le Cordon Bleu alum and Austin-native Eric Rohleder, left, is not a grouch; he just wines a lot. In fact, the gourmand is so friendly he named his new Union Market booze boutique Cordial Fine Wine & Spirits (1309 5th St. NE; 202-548-2450). More than 200 artisanal wines under $60 a bottle, plus 35 craft beers, complement the market’s food vendors like Rappahannock Oyster Co. and Righteous Cheese. Cordial hosts free tastings Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Garment District?
Among the fashionable weapons in Alexandria designer Kim Schalk’s arsenal: jersey tops with flattering, ribbon-cinched ruching (right, $90), ballerina-inspired wool skirts ($150) and leather pull-on sleeves ($120 a pair) that are two parts punk princess, one part “Game of Thrones” heroine. Her pieces show up at a local design pop-up shop Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. at Tabula Rasa (731 8th St. SE). Diamantina bags and perfume by  Nomaterra Fragrances are also part of the cool lineup.

Gone Sale-ing
Smythe jackets for 50 percent off. French Sole flats for $64. These and other fashion and decor steals headline at the Old Town Boutique District Warehouse Sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (George Washington Masonic Temple, 101 Callahan Drive, Alexandria, 703-549-9234). This Is No Yolk
The cafeteria worker gave us a funny look when we asked if we could purchase one raw egg. But it was nothing compared to her look when she saw Quirky’s egg white separator ($13, Quirky.com) in action. The magical contraption uses gentle suction to separate yolks from whites minus the usual mess. We see a lot of egg- white omelets and meringues in your future. Not to mention stares.

Bar of India
Rice pudding isn’t the only way to enjoy Indian sweets. With dessert temple Co Co. Sala (929 F St. NW, 202-347-4265), New Delhi-born, D.C.-based food writer Monica Bhide concocted the SpiceSutra chocolate bar collection starring aromatic and, reputedly, aphrodisiac subcontinental ingredients (saffron, fennel, rose preserves). The resulting treats add up to an exotic Valentine’s Day getaway sans a flight to Mumbai. Order Feb. 4-6 via Bhide’s website; chocolates can be shipped or picked up at Co Co. Sala.
