Crystal Run 5K Fridays give folks a healthy way to kick off their weekends in April.

It can be rewarding to train for a long-distance race, such as Sunday’s Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run or the 2013 Marine Corps Marathon (which sold out in a record 2 hours 27 minutes last week). But you can get to the finish line of one of these weekend 5Ks much faster.

Crystal Run 5K Fridays

The healthiest happy hour returns to Crystal City this month. At 6:30 p.m. every Friday in April, it’s time to gather at 2121 Crystal Drive and go on a brisk tour of the neighborhood. Also scope out some new shoes with the Pacers Shoe Lab, which lets you swap what’s on your feet for a pair from Mizuno, Saucony or Newton for the duration of the race. After the run, participants can shower at Sport & Health or take a free yoga-for-athletes class at 7:30 p.m. at Mind Your Body Oasis. It’s $20 for one race, or $60 for the series of four (just hold on to your bib and timing tag). For more details, visit
