Turkey Day has increasingly become Turkey Week. The day after the feast is Black Friday, which is followed by Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. The American Council on Exercise ( has decided to add another day to the celebration: Workout Wednesday.

To get folks in the spirit — and thinking about what they look like in a bathing suit instead of a winter coat — ACE is holding a photo contest on Twitter and Instagram. By Friday at midnight, post a pic of how you exercise along with the hashtag #ACEWorkoutWed to win a trip for two to the Dominican Republic.

If you need some ideas of where to set up your photo shoot this week, this list should help.

Typhoon Relief Yoga
Tranquil Space, 1632 17th St. NW; 6 p.m. Wed.; $25;

Reflect on what you’re thankful for at this candlelit class that’s raising money for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Even if your photos don’t win a prize, they could inspire someone else to give to the cause.

Trot for Hunger
Freedom Plaza; 9 a.m. Thu.; $30-$35;

There will be more than a dozen turkey trots across the region on Thanksgiving morning, but only this one takes participants on a route by the U.S. Capitol. The 5K run/walk, a fundraiser for So Others Might Eat, supports the area’s homeless population and often draws a few goofballs who dress up like turkeys. Pose with one (or be one!) for ideal photo fodder.

National Gallery of Art Ice Skating Rink
Sixth Street and Constitution Avenue NW; $8 for adults, $7 for children; $3 skate rental;

How do you look when you’re slipping and sliding around on skinny blades? Maybe not so hot. But with actual masterpieces surrounding you, a selfie is bound to turn out pretty cool. The rink has regular hours this week except for Thursday, when it’ll be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Urban Evolution, all locations; 5-9 p.m. Fri.; free for members, law enforcement, military and emergency responder personnel, $20 for general public;

You won’t have much time to send your photos in after this workout, which will be held simultaneously at Urban Evolution’s three locations (Alexandria, Manassas, Va., and Baltimore). But given the number of tires to flip, boxes to jump off of and ropes to climb at these gyms, you’ll get a shot of something worth remembering.
