Combine horror with education Saturday when the AFI Silver presents a double feature of “The Shining” and “Room 237.” The former is terrifying; the latter terrifyingly obsessive. The 2012 documentary from director Rodney Ascher is filled with film fanatics who’ve examined in freakish detail the symbolism of Kubrick’s 1980 film. So you get to see a movie, and then you get to see a movie about that movie, and then you can go out afterward and talk about the movie and the movie about the movie. Then you can go home and have nightmares about a guy chasing you with an ax.

AFI Silver, 8633 Colesville Road, Silver Spring; Sat., 7:45 p.m., $12-15; 301-495-6700. (Silver Spring)
