In the past six months, there has been a 99 percent increase in apprehended migrant children attempting to illegally cross the Mexico border into the United States. They come with the incorrect belief that children will not be sent back home. The journey to get to the States is long and dangerous, but most say the risk is worth it because the dangers of remaining in their home country — predominantly Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador — are greater.
