The beauty of Donburi, the teeny Japanese rice bowl shop in Adams Morgan, is you always know what to expect. Though small, the menu is nearly identical to the original at the time the restaurant opened last November. The dish I keep going back to? The unagi don, composed of white rice topped with pickled vegetables (beets, ginger, cucumber and jalapenos), a half-cooked egg and eel slathered with a barbecue sauce and charred with a blowtorch. It’s covered in Donburi’s dashi-based sauce.
