On Monday, the District Department of Transportation rolled out a streetcar safety education campaign for children and teens. Over the next few weeks, DDOT will hold assemblies at the 10 schools in the vicinity of the streetcar tracks; the agency also issued an activity packet for educators and parents to use. Among the youth-oriented tips: Don’t ride your skateboard across the streetcar tracks and “never grab the back of a streetcar to be pulled along on your bike or skateboard.” The packet includes a quiz that asks kids in grades second or lower to interpret the symbols at right. We took a stab at it.
