Baked & Wired Neighborhood: Georgetown
Our 2013 reader favorite isn't one of the city's many newcomers, but an indie hangout that has been an oasis for 12 years in chain-happy Georgetown. A rustic-looking shop owned by former graphic designers, Baked & Wired is known for its moist cupcakes and the homemade granola it calls "hippie crack." But with beans by Stumptown, Intelligentsia and Madcap in the burr grinders, it should be no surprise that Baked & Wired came out on top.Bill O'Leary/The Washington Post
