After a three-day shutdown, the Senate supported a bill on Monday that would reopen the government, at least for another three weeks. Next, the short-term spending bill will head back for a vote in the House and then to President Trump for his signature.

The deal came about after Senate Democrats offered up their votes in exchange for Republican leaders to soon let the Senate debate a bipartisan bill to protect "dreamers" from deportation. It all happened rather suddenly; after the government shut down midnight Saturday, both sides seemed stuck in a stalemate over the weekend. So, what changed? Twenty-seven Democrats and one independent who voted against a spending bill Friday night switched their votes, while three Republicans who had voted against the Friday bill switched theirs.

Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) did not vote. Below, see how senators voted on the funding bill.
