    A year in graphics

In 2015, the world was shaken by terror as the Islamic State grew and the crisis worsened in Syria. Climate changes came to the forefront of the worldwide conversation. Gun violence brought heartbreak and rage. But faith was also on display during the pope's visit to the United States. Humanity stepped further into outer space and personal health became a priority.
At The Washington Post, we kept an eye on the D.C. region, scrutinized how we consume energy, covered political conversations, enjoyed sporting events and tracked an improving economy. At the same time, we celebrated the world we live in.
