Over the past four days, a mix of politicians and other figures — athletes, actors, business people and the like — delivered 73 speeches as part of the Republican National Convention. We tracked the common language they used throughout the week.

Make _ _ Again

Note: Area of circle represents duration of speech.

Donald Trump's slogan, "Make America Great Again," has become a rallying call for his supporters, leading many convention speakers to use the "Make _ _ Again" structure to focus on issues they see in the country, from national security to job creation.

That's why we can trust him to make America great again as our next president.
Let's make America great again.
But let's make America America again.
That opportunity is to elect someone who will make this country safe again.
President Trump will make the border patrol secure again.
Our country needs Donald Trump to make us great again.
Let's come together and make America safe and great again.
It's time to take back our country and make America safe again.
You see, Donald Trump understands that what can make our nation safe again is a recommitment to a system of justice in which no government official... can claim privilege above the law.
We can make America great again, and we will.
And together, let's make America great again.
Believe that together, we can make America great again.
I speak tonight, not only to Republicans but to the millions of Independents and Democrats who share that dream and who wish to make America safe again.
It is way past time to make America strong and safe again.
And, and, Donald Trump will make America great again.
It's time to make America safe again.
It's time to make America one again.
Renewed strength and unapologetic resolve and with Donald Trump in the White House, we will make America great again.
Now is the time to make America safe again.
It is time to rally around Donald Trump who will make America safe again.
We have nominated the individual that is going to make America great again, Donald J. Trump.
He will make America work again so we can believe again.
Together electing a Republican Congress, Donald Trump, Mike Pence, we can build a better America and make that shining city on the hill bright again.
But, together, most importantly, we are going to make America great again.
We're going to elect a president who will work with everyone to pass legislation that will make our country great again.
Take this energy from this convention back to your state, back to your home, and work to elect Donald Trump, who will make America great again.
He will make this country great again.
We need leadership that will make America's space program first again.
And we need leadership that will make America great again.
Who will take care of the American people and make America great again.
And by protecting the American dream, we can make America first again.
They will make America great again.
It's time for a President who can make America great again, ahead of budget and ahead of schedule too.
He assured that we can make America great again for all Americans.
Newt and I are proud to be working to elect a president who will put America first and make our country safe again.
We can make America safe again.
We can make America work again.
We can make America first again.
And together, we can make America great again for all Americans.
Americans can elect someone who literally personifies the failed establishment in Washington, D.C. or we can choose a leader who will fight every day to make America great again.
And when we elect Donald Trump the 45th president of the United States, together we will make America great again!
I truly believe that Donald Trump can provide the leadership that will help us all make America great again.
Let's go make America great again.
Just as Michigan was willing to adopt a Buckeye, for a cause greater than ourselves we can unite behind Donald Trump to make America one again.
Do you want to help make America one again?
We must make America one again and restore the confidence in the strength of our nation.
We invite every American who believes in these principles and longs for an end to division and wants to make America one again to join us in electing Donald Trump as President of the United States.
When Donald Trump asks us to make America great again, he is not suggesting a return to the past.
I am here to tell you that this is a moment and Donald Trump is the person to make America great again.
When my father says that he will make America great again, he will deliver.
Now I'm going to make our country rich again.
We will make America strong again!
We will make America proud again!
We will make America safe again!
And we will make America great again!

Radical Islamic Terrorism

In a series of recent terrorist attacks on U.S. soil, like those in Orlando and San Bernardino, Calif., the assailants have been inspired by radical Islam. The convention speakers tended to think focusing on the Islamic component of the terrorism is necessary, something they believe President Obama and other Democrats have neglected.

He was murdered by radical Islamic terrorists.
When it comes to the threat posed by radical Islamic terrorism, he will not hesitate to kill the terrorists who threaten american lives.
The enemy is radical Islam.
We are in a struggle against the forces of radical Islam and terror.
A Trump administration will take on this fight and send a clear message to the Islamist terrorists.
The threat from radical Islamic terrorism is real.
We must not be afraid to define our enemy. It is, Islamic Extremist Terrorism.
I said, Islamic Extremist Terrorism, you know who you are, and we're coming to get you.
In the last seven months, there have been five major Islamic terrorist attacks on us and our allies.
Her dereliction of duty and failure to keep her people safe, played a major role as you heard tonight in the horrific Islamic terrorist murders on September 11 and 12, 2012 in Benghazi.
The only person who couldn't figure out this was an Islamic terrorist extremist attack was Barack Obama.
To defeat Islamic extremist terrorists, we must put them on defense.
And the threats are mounting. Radical Islam metastasizing throughout the world.
Obama chose to conceal the actions of terrorists like Osama bin Laden, and groups like ISIS and the role of Iran in the rise of radical Islam.
The radicalization of Islam and its barbaric cause that uses modernity to influence potentially millions around the world to join their cause.
I am definitely certain that we can not win this war, unless we are free to call our enemies by name, radical Islamists and failed tyrants.
Donald Trump will not hesitate to call radical Islamic terrorism by its name.
Donald J. Trump is not afraid to talk about radical Islamic terrorism.
These are just a few of the examples of Islamic terrorists.
Radical Islamic terrorists slaughtering and brutalizing their innocent victims.
We must defeat ISIS and then remain fully committed to destroying Islamic terrorists wherever they hide.
We need a president who is not afraid to say radical Islamic terrorism.
How many more times is the evil of radical Islamic terrorism have to occur before the President of the United States will muster the courage to face the truth?
Climate change isn't our biggest problem; it's Islamic terrorism.
We name if for what it is, you know the words, radical Islamic terrorism.
We all watched horrified and helpless as a radical Islamic terrorist targeted members of the LGBTQ community in Orlando.
Unlike Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump takes seriously the threats from Islamic radicals and is committed to rebuilding our military.
So do the soldiers, and sailors, and airmen, and Marines everyday fighting radical Islamic terrorism.
He could no longer tolerate an inept administration that considers giving $150 billion to Iran or releasing five radical Islamic terrorists a successful negotiation.
We are at war with radical Islamists.
Two days before that, radical Islamists in Bangladesh killed 20 hostages, including three American college students.
Last month, a radical Islamist in Paris stalked a French police officer to his home where he murdered the officer.
So the truth is although we are losing the war with radical Islamists, we have been very lucky.
Donald Trump will confront radical Islamic terrorism at its source and destroy the enemies of our freedom.
If you want a president who will protect this nation, confront radical Islamic terrorism and rid the world of ISIS.
He is a man who will get this country on the right track, who believes in peace through strength and will protect America against radical Islamic terrorists who seek to destroy our nation.
Her family foundation took millions of dollars in donations from countries notorious for human rights abuses and funneling money to radical Islamic terrorists.
Once again, France is the victim of brutal Islamic terrorism.
The damage and devastation that can be inflicted by Islamic radicals has been proven over and over.
Only weeks ago in Orlando, Florida, 49 wonderful Americans were savagely murdered by an Islamic terrorist.
Instead, we must work with all of our allies who share our goal of destroying ISIS and stamping out Islamic terrorism.

Benghazi

An intelligence failure led to a terrorist attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, resulting in the death of four Americans in 2012. Republicans generally, including the speakers featured at the convention, have blamed Hillary Clinton, who oversaw the consulate as secretary of state, for the incident, and believe she tried to cover up her mistakes afterward.

My son Sean was one of four brave Americans killed during the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi.
For all the citizens of the tragedy in Benghazi has brought upon America, i blame Hillary Clinton.
To this day, I don't even know why a computer guy like Sean was sent to Benghazi.
Benghazi has been a four letter word for the left.
When four Americans were murdered and Benghazi burned -- burned, she blamed it on a video and our enemies noticed.
Her dereliction of duty and failure to keep her people safe, played a major role as you heard tonight in the horrific Islamic terrorist murders on September 11 and 12, 2012 in Benghazi.
[Clinton's leadership] was absent as our enemies overran another consulate and killed four of our Americans in Benghazi.
Together Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton brought us ISIS and brought down Benghazi.
But the lives of Sergeant McClintock and four Americans in Benghazi could have been saved with leadership in the White House.
We need a commander in chief, who will support our troops, rather than abandon them in Benghazi.
Our military would have a commander-in-chief who has already lied to the families of American soldiers on how and why they died in Benghazi.
So, I guess, about her emails we're soon going to hear the same infamous question that we heard about the death of four Americans in Benghazi -- "What difference, at this point, does it make?"
Hillary Clinton's bad judgment, as you heard last night, left us four dead Americans in Benghazi.
She lied about Benghazi.
Mark was part of the security team at the annex on our grounds at the consulate in Benghazi.
Today, we have a president who has rejected honesty and transparency, lying to the American people over and over again, from Obamacare... to Benghazi.
And she turned her back on the fallen heroes in Benghazi, carelessly jeopardized our national security and then she lied about it to the American people.
There's is the part that thinks ISIS is a J.V. team, that responds to the death of Americans in Benghazi, "What difference does it make?"
We know that Hillary Clinton lied to us knowingly about the terror attack on our Benghazi consulate.
And it was Hillary Clinton who left Americans in harm's way in Benghazi and after four Americans fell said, what difference at this point does it make?

The American Dream

The achievement of the American dream — the possibility someone can go from rags to riches in America if they're just determined enough to do it — has long been a major focus of both parties, including at the Republican convention. These discussions often focus on educational and economic inequality.

Hard work, discipline, self-reliance and opportunity, that's the American dream we believe in.
I'm living proof that the American dream is real.
After eight years of President Obama, I don't see the American dream like I did when I was starting out.
And the only way we keep the American dream alive is by electing Donald Trump president.
When I am gone I want my children and your children and our grandchildren to be able to live the American dream like i have.
He knows that at that heart of the American dream is the idea that whoever we are, wherever we're from we can get ahead, where everyone can prosper together.
The other party also tells us they believe in the American dream, they say we should worry about economic inequality and immobility.
Hillary Clinton fails to recognize that her calculated policies affect real people -- those who want to feed their families, own homes, pay for college, pursue the American dream.
This election is about the very survival of the American dream.
The American dream is being denigrated right now.
And I am living the American dream.
They have overtaxed us, overregulated us and they are killing the American dream.
We live in the land of opportunity and we need to protect the American dream above all else.
And by protecting the American dream, we can make America first again.
Now, over the past eight years, our President and his apprentice, Hillary Clinton, have talked about that American dream, but they have absolutely no idea how to protect it, foster it, or expand it.
I'm standing here tonight because the American dream was alive and well.
Donald Trump and Mike Pence will restore the American dream for the next would-be visionary from small-town America.
We believe in a country where people can achieve, maintain and enjoy their piece of the American dream without government standing in the way.
At a time when the people at the pinnacle of their career, like my father, would have held fast to a lifestyle that has truly become the epitome of the American dream.
I grew up on the front row of the American dream.
He believes in the American dream because he has lived the American dream.
Who believes that you have the right to preserve your version of the American dream.
I believe the American people are longing for the American dream, where they can just get a fair shake in life and an opportunity to succeed.
Participate in American democracy and live the American dream.
This is the beauty of the American dream, to do and to be the unimaginable.
Hillary Clinton is a direct threat to the American dream.
There is only one presidential candidate who will preserve the American dream that our parents and grandparents envisioned for us.
We believe in a better chance at the American dream for everyone.
Economic freedom, belief in the American dream, a strong defense, putting country first -- those values are under assault from Hillary Clinton and the rest of the Democrat party.

Political Correctness

Convention speakers aggressively pushed back against the ideals of "political correctness" and "safe spaces" because they believe limiting speech to just what doesn't offend others is against the spirit of the First Amendment.

it may not always be politically correct.
So let's cut through the suffocating political correctness.
[Not identifying radical Islamic terrorism] also sets up a fear of being politically incorrect that can have serious consequences.
Our new American century does not risk its future on political correctness and senseless hyperbole.
What terminology is politically correct and what bathroom door to open up.
War is not about political correctness or words that are meaningless.
Watch the Democratic Party convention next week, that four-day infomercial of politically correct moralizing, and let it be a reminder of all that is at stake in this election.
I am not politically correct.
And I hate political correctness because it is antithetical to the founding principles of this country.
We need a president who is politically incorrect and will tell it like it is.
Freedom means free speech, not politically correct safe spaces.
He could no longer stand to see the word Christmas stripped from public use or the Pledge of Allegiance removed from our schools in an effort to be politically correct.
And when Donald Trump does his talking, he doesn't tiptoe around the thousand new rules of political correctness.
We cannot afford to be so politically correct anymore.

_ Lives Matter

The Black Lives Matter movement, aimed at ending police killings of black individuals, has met pushback in the Republican Party. Many convention speakers feel like black lives should not be emphasized over any other race, or that police officers' lives are not adequately valued, sparking controversial variants of the "Black Lives Matter" name.

You would think Obama cared and black lives matter. No.
I would like to make something very clear: blue lives matter in America.
So many of the actions of the Occupy movement and Black Lives Matter transcend peaceful protest and violate the code of conduct we rely on.
Somebody with a nice tan needs to say this. All lives matter.
Stand up and support those people in Louisiana. Blue lives matter.
He knows that LGBTQ lives matter and he knows that veterans' lives matter and he knows that blue lives matter.
Under a Donald Trump administration, all lives matter.
Even though I disagree with the tactics and the rhetoric of the Black Lives Matter movement, I do understand that hopelessness and lack of opportunity breed this feeling of deprivation.

Status Quo

Throughout the convention, the speakers tried to frame Republicans as the party of change and the Democrats as the party of maintaining the status quo, with Clinton's strong connections inside the Beltway and long-expected nomination taking center stage.

Never fear challenging the status quo.
Ronald Reagan said status quo is Latin for the mess we're in.
But this Republican agenda can only be realized, if we disrupt the status quo.
Hillary Clinton is the definition of status quo.
Hillary Clinton believes the status quo is just fine because she helped create it.
You know, Hillary Clinton wants a better title and I would, too, if I was already America's secretary of the status quo.
It's change versus status quo.

Build the Wall

Since the day he announced his candidacy, Trump has harped on his intention to build a wall along the southern border of the United States in an effort to stop illegal immigration from Mexico and other Latin American countries. But it seems most convention speakers didn't follow suit.

We need to secure our borders so no other person has to ever go through this kind of grief, pain, agony knowing this could have been prevented. Build the wall. Americans need to come first.
Only Trump will stand against terrorists and end end illegal immigration. Build the wall.
Donald Trump will build the wall.
We deserve an immigration system that puts America first, and yes, builds a wall to keep America safe.
