Adele’s “25” may have beat Beyoncé for album of the year, but the British singer spent most of her acceptance speech pouring her heart out about how much she loves Beyoncé.
“My light is Beyoncé. The ‘Lemonade’ album was just so monumental and so well thought out and so beautiful and so soul-bearing,” Adele said.
“All us artists here adore you,” she continued. “You are our light, and the way you make me and my friends feel, and the way you make my black friends feel is empowering.” The camera panned to Beyoncé, who was crying.
Before that, Adele spoke about the struggle of motherhood, and how she “lost a lot of myself” in the past year. “Tonight, winning this, kind of feels like a full-circle moment, like a bit of me has come back to me.”
