McDormand is finally a winner after six nominations. This is the third win for “Three Billboards.”

“I have a few things to say,” she promised tantalizingly before saying that actually she was going to keep it short, since the show had already gone on so long. Maybe that’s why the network kept bleeping her out for saying things like “Ffffffox Searchlight.”

“We need some tequila,” she said, then told the other ladies in her category to meet her at the bar for drinks on her. She also said she appreciated the Hollywood Foreign Press, even though she’s not sure who they are, because they managed to elect a female president.

McDormand didn’t get too political — she keeps that side of her life private. But she did have a message for the men watching: “Trust me, the women in this room tonight are not here for the food. We are here for the work.”
