Weingut Bründlmayer
Grüner Veltliner Terrassen 2015

★ ★ ★

Kamptal, Austria, $28

Bründlmayer is one of Austria’s premier wineries. “Terrassen” denotes a wine blended with grapes from several terraced vineyards on the mountains along the Danube, as opposed to the more expensive single-vineyard wines. This wine sports a fine filigree, with delicate flavors of white flowers (think peach blossom or jasmine) and a hint of lemon grass. And it’s as refreshing as spring water. Alcohol by volume: 12.5 percent.

Distributed by Country Vintner: Available in the District at Calvert Woodley, MacArthur Beverages; on the list at BlackSalt Restaurant, Fiola Mare, Kinship, Komi, Métier. Available in Maryland at Montgomery County Liquors (Potomac); on the list at Passionfish in Bethesda. On the list in Virginia at Morrison House in Alexandria, PassionFish in Reston.

Stolpman Vineyards La Cuadrilla 2014

★ ★ ½

Ballard Canyon, Santa Barbara County, Calif., $24

Stolpman is one of California’s best producers of Rhône-variety wines. For La Cuadrilla, the winery gives its vineyard crew control over a parcel in the vineyard, and profits from the wine are shared among the workers. This is a spicy red, with electric acidity and deep berry flavors with hints of mushrooms, beef and — well, whatever you might want to put on the grill. ABV: 14.1 percent.

Distributed by Country Vintner: Available in the District at Rodman’s, Wardman Wines. Available in Maryland at Highland Wine & Spirits in Highland, Pine Orchard Liquors in Ellicott City; on the list at Barrel & Crow and Black’s Bar & Kitchen in Bethesda, Severn Inn in Annapolis. Available in Virginia at Unwined (Belleview), Wine House in Fairfax, WineStyles (Montclair); on the list at Giorgio’s in Dumfries, the New Bridge in Warrenton, Melt Gourmet Cheeseburgers in Leesburg, Stomping Ground in Alexandria, Water & Wall in Arlington.

Weingut Josef Bauer Grüner Veltliner Ried Spiegel 2015

★ ★ ½

Wagram, Austria, $17

“Ried” is a new Austrian designation denoting a single-vineyard wine. This racy example has great focus and length, refreshing acidity and an appealing citrus character to pair well with all sorts of seafood. ABV: 12.5 percent.

Available in Maryland at Adega Wine Cellars & Cafe in Silver Spring, Cranberry Liquors in Westminster, Finewine.com in Gaithersburg, Viniferous in Frederick, Wine Bin in Ellicott City. GREAT VALUE
Domaine Barcelo Rosé 2015

★ ★

Corsica, France, $9

The label says “Ile de Beauté,” another name for Corsica. This is a blend of two native Corsican grapes, Niellucciu and Sciaccarellu, with the more familiar grenache and merlot. And it’s a terrific value for the price, bright and racy with cherry and watermelon flavors — a taste of the Mediterranean. ABV: 11.5 percent.

Distributed by M. Touton Selection: Available in the District at Bloomingdale Liquor, Cleveland Park Wine and Spirits, New H Wine & Spirits, Safeway (Georgetown), Sunset Wine & Spirits, Virginia Market. Available in Maryland at Broadway Liquors in Baltimore, Old Farm Liquors and Spin the Bottle Wine Co. in Frederick, Petit Cellars in Ellicott City, Village Liquors in Emmitsburg, the Wine Shop in Waldorf.
