Force of Nature Red Wine 2013

★ ★   1 / 2

Paso Robles, Calif., $21

Thierry Delaunay Winemaker TYDY Sauvignon Blanc 2014

★ ★

Loire Valley, France, $15

Textbook Loire sauvignon blanc, it offers racy, grassy flavors with some orchard fruit. But most of all, it says “Thomas Calder Selection” on the label; that’s a name worth taking to the bank, or at least to the checkout line. The importer is transitioning to the 2015 vintage, which should be riper in flavor due to a warmer vintage. Alcohol by volume: 12 percent.
