It shows some wood, with spicy notes of clove and nutmeg over exotic fruit, such as starfruit. There is a lemon curd-creme brulee aspect as well; this wine is for pairing with food, not for patio sipping or mixing into a kir.J.W. Rapet Pere et Fils Bourgogne Aligote 2008


Burgundy, France, $23

This wine brightens the palate with lemon and lemon curd flavors, followed by a slight hazelnut finish.

Shooting Star Aligote 2008


Washington State, $11

A rare American example of aligote, it has the classic elements: lemon curd and a hint of roasted hazelnut, with some nice red currant fruit underneath.
