Working from home sounds fun, but the reality can be far from it. So we asked New York designer Taylor Spellman, co-host of the Bravo reality show “Yours, Mine or Ours,” for ideas on designing a functional and stylish home office.

Spellman likes to work with a mix of materials, including wood, metal and cashmere. “The different textures add dimension to the design and, when combined correctly, lay the groundwork for a beautiful and unique environment full of personality and character,” Spellman wrote in an email. “I particularly like this collection of items, as they are bold enough to make a statement while remaining neutral enough that your mind has room to think, grow and create.”

Here are Spellman’s suggestions.
