Three D.C. schools are looking for help in scoring a big treat. The finalists in Candace’s Cupcake Challenge are hoping their original cupcake will be the top seller this week at Sprinkles in Georgetown so they can win a huge cupcake party and a cash prize.

Sprinkles owner Candace Nelson picked the three recipes from entries that came from D.C. public and charter elementary schools.

Elsie Whitlow Stokes charter school came up with the Churros Cupcake. It has cinnamon cake, chocolate dulce de leche filling and cinnamon cream-cheese frosting.

Simon Elementary created the Bipartisan Cupcake with blue velvet cake and strawberry cheesecake frosting.

Creative Minds charter school dreamed up Brownie Sundae Sur-PRIZE. It has chocolate cake filled with candied cherries and topped with vanilla buttercream.

Each of the schools will win prizes, but the school with the top seller by Friday will earn a schoolwide party and $1,000.
