The Washington Post

Come to reading of KidsPost poetry contest winners

There once was a contest in D.C.

Which, by gosh, was by no means easy

The kids were to write

Poems clever and bright

Without ever being too cheesy

We are pleased to announce that the above poem was NOT a winner in the annual KidsPost Poetry Contest. We’re pleased because the winning poems are so much better than that awful limerick.

And the 15 poets behind the winning verses will participate in and be honored at a poetry reading Wednesday.

The reading is free and open to the public, so if you’d like to cheer on these talented young poets, come to Politics & Prose bookstore, 5015 Connecticut Ave. NW, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

For more information, call the bookstore at 202-364-1919 or e-mail
